Joint Replacement

Total joint replacement is a surgical procedure in which parts of an arthritic or damaged joint are removed and replaced with a metal, plastic, or ceramic device called a prosthesis.

What is Joint Replacement ?

Surgery to replace a damaged joint with an artificial joint (made of metal, ceramic, or plastic) is known as joint replacement, often known as arthroplasty. Total joint replacement is the practice when providers replace the complete joint. Less frequently, they just change the joint's damaged portion. They most frequently replace the hips, knees, and shoulders.

Who requires a joint replacement, or arthroplasty?

• Joint discomfort that is not relieved by non-surgical methods such as rest, physical therapy (PT), medication, bracing, injections, and others.
• Joint stiffness and restricted mobility make performing daily activities challenging or impossible.
• Inflammation or swelling does not get better with treatment or lifestyle modifications.
